Christmas in July with Emily Moore Designs!

I had the pleasure of playing with all the festive new goodies ahead of the release (thank you, Emily!!), so I can give you my firsthand experience…This collection, just like the previous ones, is entirely customizable, mix-and-matchable, blendable, make-them-your-own-able!! (Yes, we make up words here. Why not? 😂) I was able to mix several of the previously released items with this new collection for my own fun spin on holiday!
So what did you play with first?
For this card, I used the largest die from the brand new Curvy Ornament Nested Die Set and used some fun washi paper I found at Hello, Tokyo in Illinois (shoutout to my friend, Jenn Gross, for introducing me to such quirky and fun places to shop!), and the colors just seemed like a perfect match for this jump on my holiday cardmaking! The die cut "like buttah," so I cut out one layer of the bright washi paper, then one layer of solid white cardstock to back it since washi paper is thin. Honestly, just that on its own would have been quite a lovely ornament. Come to think of it, I might just make several of those to decorate my tree this winter! But for now, we'll play with the card version...
But wait--it's an ornament-shaped card??
YES! And making this may be easier than you would think! All I did was cut a standard US A2 card base (5.5in x 8.5in), scored it at the 4.25" mark, and then burnished the score line to make a folded card. I then lined up the same large ornament die with the pointy tip in the center of the open side (opposite the folded edge) and let the rest of the die hang off of the edge. That means the top 3/4" to 1" of the die did not cut anything. That's exactly what I was going for! From there I just adhered my full die cut with the washi tape layer glued on top of it to the folded base, and it made a fully shaped card that has plenty of clearance to open and bend--cool, right?? Next I needed to decorate it...
But I don't see a wreath die in the collection...?
That's part of the amazing awesomeness that is Emily Moore Designs! Every new item you buy builds on your previous purchases so that you never run out of new ways to use your existing stash! I mean, come on, it's GENIUS! So for this adorable little wreath, I used the medium and small circles from the Decorative Circle Die Set, and used the smaller one to cut the center out of the larger one. And with the famously beautiful edging on Emily Moore Designs' products, the leftover "wreath" shape already had a delicate pattern embossed into it that made it an elegant little wreath design perfect for the front of my card! It really was that simple. I can't make this stuff up, friends...
You didn't stop there, did you?
Of course not! Although I'm not what I affectionately call a "kitchen sink stamper," meaning I don't like too many things on my card front (I don't have the incredible cluster collage skills that so many of you have), I did want to add a little bit more to my wreath to really celebrate the holiday season and overall theme of this release. Using the new Holly & Swirls Layered Stencil, I pulled just the berry layer and ran some Bee Sting Lunar Paste through it to add a few choice berry clusters to the wreath. That gave the card the little bit of shine that it needed, but I knew we still weren't quite there. The finishing touch had to be the new Dainty Bow Die Set with its absolutely gorgeous double bow. I love how the bow is thinner and more delicate than a lot of traditional bow dies, and I see myself getting a lot of mileage out of this 3-bow die set (I know--three different sizes of bows! whaaat??). Funny story, though...
Oops! One of these things is not like the other...
Can y'all see my oopsie?? Funny thing, Emily herself emailed me to make sure I actually had all the pieces to the Dainty Bow Die Set because I forget one crucial little detail! I'll give you a second to see if you can Spot the Difference!
Check out the center of the bow...👀👀 OOOOOOPS!! When I first shared this project on the socials, I didn't even realize I was missing the little circle center of my bow! I had the die, but somehow completely overlooked it! I mean, stuff happens, right?? Emily was very kind, and I so appreciated her letting me know that I had a nakey bow! LOL Fortunately, I fixed it, retook the photos, and our finished bow is no longer running around in its skivvies! 😂
But I don't see a sentiment...?
You're absolutely right! I thought about it for quite some time because I absolutely adore the new Special Delivery Stamp Set with its hilarious sentiments, but after consulting my wise stamping guru (my corgi, who sagely raises a condescending eyebrow at me if my project is subpar), I accepted that not every project needs to have a sentiment on the front, and not even on the inside! I think this card is lovely just as is, and I will be happy to send it to a friend when the time comes with my handwritten holiday well wishes.
